James Surowiecki  "groups are only smart if individuals think independently"

Task 1- Do you agree with Surowiecki?  In your organization, is this a problem? If so, describe.
According to Surowiecki there are four key qualities for collective intelligence to be effective:
  1. Diversity of opinion: people must bring different types of information to the crowd.
  2. Decentralization: no one is commanding or directing the crowd's opinion and answer.
  3. Aggregation: collecting the summarizing people's opinion and decision into one collective judgment.
  4. Independence:people must think and decide independently. They should not care of what other are thinking and wait for others to decide for them. He believes collective intelligence will be successful and fruitful if every one inside the group think and decide independently.
I agree with Surowieckie because working in groups under the right circumstances is much better and more productive than working individually. It is important to realize that intelligence is not gust something happens in individual's brains, this also arises when groups of people work collectively. I think that every individual idea is important for the success of the group, so if the members doesn't act independently the group will become unilateral community. The main objective behind group working are collaboration, and taking decisions multilaterally.

Unfortunately i don't have job right now so i can not speak about what happening inside my organization but i think collective intelligence can be applied in every aspect of our life e.g family, army, and country. An important example of working collaboratively  forming governments and ruling countries.Usually there several types of political parties and nationalities inside a government, if they work  as a unified group they can serve the country more and gain the citizen's trust. There are also opposition parties like in our case now a days in Kurdistan. They have different agendas, opinions and believes that makes them independence form other political parties. Both of these parties are working together in the government. The bigger the crowd the more influential it becomes.
